The
advice given over the Easter weekend by a leading
member of the Provisionals based upon the so called
sightings of a leading loyalist on the West Bank of
Derry is one that should not be rejected out of hand
by the general nationalist community. The reason being
that there have been other sightings on the City side
of loyalists and strange car sightings in the Creggan,
Ballymagroarty, and Rosemount.
These
facts cannot be denied and support Mitchell McLaughlin's
statement. Therefore the nationalist and republican
community should be on their guard and make every
precaution possible.
Against
this background however there are underground rumours
that a paramilitary grouping in Derry may carry out
an attack against a leading 'dissident republican'and
in the aftermath lay the blame at the door of Loyalist
paramilitaries.
The
Republican Forum in Derry requests someone from the
Provisionals to make reference to this rumour and
clarify the situation for the sake of all concerned.
