Take Ireland Out of the War
Irish Anti War Movement News

Michael Youlton • 5 August 2005

Just a short note to let your readers know that the Irish Anti War Movement will be organising a Day of Action and a Festival in Shannon on September 24th.

The event will coincide with an international day of action against the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Our protest, supported by a number of anti-war organisations, Trade Unions and political parties, is against the increasing use of Shannon Airport by the US military - over the last couple of weeks over large number of combat-ready troops have been passing through Shannon every single day. That number reached over 2,000 last Tuesday August 2nd.

This makes a mockery of our neutrality and brings us further and further into the mire of the war effort of the Crusade Coalition.

Buses from Belfast will be organised on the day. For further information contact the Irish Anti-War Movement.

All censorships exist to prevent any one from challenging current conceptions and existing institutions. All progress is initiated by challenging current conceptions, and executed by supplanting existing institutions. Consequently the first condition of progress is the removal of censorships.
- George Bernard Shaw
