You know I read you email news paper faithfully and
I honestly don't always agree with you, but the article
that Mr. Luby wrote is just very wrong. I was born
on the Falls and my grandparents and parents on both
sides came from the Lower Falls. They were decent
hardworking people whose decendents are now Professors,
Doctors and Financeers. But I have taught them all
the history of the North of Ireland as I saw it and
knew it. I'm ashamed of the way your treating Gerry
Adams,so I am.
As for what that Mr. Powell said about Gerry
Adams, all I can do is repeat what I believe James
Connolly said, in his cell in 1916, to something his
wife said ......."English promises"!!!!
Really now, who cares any more what England says or
thinks. To tell you the truth, I'm not like all of
you, I don't know all the dates and I can't really
quote all the facts correctly. I only can judge by
what I see all around me and I'll admit I'm in the
States. However I honestly don't understand your
vendetta against Gerry Adams. This man as well as
Martin McGuinness have done their level best to
bring some kind of peace to those in the North. None
of them are interested in a soft bed in the Waldorf
and so what if they have a nice wee place in Donegal.
So I wish you wouldn't belittle them. It really
hurts me to hear them spoken about in that way. At
any time during the last thirty years they could easily
have been shot down.It would have just broken my heart
to have the same thing happen to Gerry Adams as happened
to Michael Collins. I know they haven't got what all
of us wanted but for the love of God give them a heads
up for trying. By making little of them all the time
in you paper, you only give the opposite side more
mud and ammunation to throw at them and us.
I have no axe to grind in this matter. I'm a grandmother
now and when I left Belfast I was a teenager. I know
I don't know all the ins and outs of the politics
at home, but I ask you all to all sit down put your
heads down and say a wee pray to Our Lady that you
all will keep a civil tongue in your heads
when you are talking about one another. Sure you're
all on the same side, aren't you? I'm not saying
your paper is always wrong on your articles, but sometimes
you go just a bit too far and I find I can't read
it without feeling so very, very sad and think to
myself.....not again!!!! I'm convinced Gerry Adams
is doing his best, and has Irelands best interests
at heart.
God and his Holy Mother protect you all. And may we
one day have indeed A Nation Once Again.
