Never
in the history of mankind has a National Liberation
movement anywhere achieved its objectives by exclusively
peaceful means.
Ergo,
PSF and PIRA are not a National Liberation movement
any more than Fianna Fail and the Garda Síochána
are.
Once
the conquered accept the conqueror's terms of peace,
as was done in 1998, that's the end of any kind
of meaningful nation building for the losers. The
handing in of their weapons now only serves to further
copper fasten the terms of the surrender.
It's
the neo-colonies for us for the indefinite future
unless of course you think deefer devils like Michael
McDowell actually speak for Ireland.
Newsflash
- they don't.
Lest
there be any doubt now know thee in all parts that
Gerry Adams and company are quite unabashedly no
more likely to bring about a United 32 County sovereign
Irish Republic than Bertie Ahern and company.
Such
is the fate for all around-the-fort Indians. They
never go beyond the reservation given them except
to hunt down renegades.
The
good news is that in time few if any remember them
since only righteous renegades and revolutionaries
live forever.
Moreover,
as the new preening pawns of Brit power and rule
in Ireland, who can really complain about the Provo's
own decommissioning?
Just
as Geronimo or Crazy Horse had no chance against
American imperialism, their own struggle could only
advance the slaughter of more innocents.
And
without guns
there can be no Broy Harriers
mark II.
Some
will say how can we believe Provos given their long
history of lying?
A
fair question to be sure. After all, how do you
go from saying not a bullet not an ounce to dump
all arms? What has changed from then to now for
such a brazen switch of positions?
Nothing
really, which means An Phoblacht's earlier boast
was the lie which helped keep most of their fools
on board. More lies for fools will surely follow.
But any thinking person will know better.
Rest
assured arms dumping will occur and photographs
will be taken but not so much for the DUP's benefit
as for the Brits' because no rational person really
cares what the DUP minority thinks.
The
Brits are in Ireland out of concern for their very
own interests
not the DUP's or anyone else's.
To the extent the DUP's concerns dovetail with British
imperialism is nice for the Brits but not necessary.
If
anyone has any doubts about this
see Brits
in Iraq.
Imperialism
is by definition not about democracy or respect
for small nations and it never has been. If it was
then the British government would have paid heed
to its' own peoples' concerns and buggered out of
Ireland and Iraq a long time ago.
Such
plutocratic guile will continue to propel genuine
Irish Republicans and Nationalists to try and fill
the gaping Provo breach here. But unless all kinds
of lots of them are willing and able to fight like
Muslims, then they should really re-consider just
how they might otherwise proceed with their struggle.
Radical
rejection and critique coupled with bands of merry
pranksters would go a longer way politically in
these times than shooting or bombing unarmed people
because any honest analysis of how the PSF/PIRA
got from there to here must include focus on their
harming of innocents and how such played into the
occupier's very effective propaganda ploys which
in turn helped bring the Provos to heel publicly
if they weren't already bought privately.
Sure
Joanna Mathers shouldn't have been sent by the Brits
to peddle their wares in Nationalist neighborhoods
anymore than Republicans should send any of their
own unarmed to peddle their wares in Loyalist neighborhoods.
However,
taking her pens and papers and sending her on her
way would have done the trick far more effectively
than shooting her did. Which of course begs the
question why was she shot and who did it really
serve?
Killing
her was as reprehensibly wrong as a Loyalist shooting
a Shinner for handing out a copy of An Phoblacht
and it only served the British agenda because it
was an utterly indefensible act
like too many
others.
So
unless today's genuine Irish Republicans want to
risk morphing into Fianna Fail mark III, it would
behoove all of us to act very carefully and in concert
even if only as an association of many different
autonomous but nonetheless aligned political groups
and individuals because if for nothing else 10%
of say $100,000 is worth more than 100% of $1,000.
We
must learn to all hang together (sans Stalinists)
or get used to all hanging separately assisting
each other in our own political marginalization
like renegade Indians off the reservation being
run down one by one.
We
have all been here before so there is no reason
to ever get lost again.
So
don't mourn. Organize!
